An exploration of concepts exploring music through abstraction
This curated collection presents a body of abstract creations cultivated during my tenure in MA Studies (2018-2021), delving deep into the realms of emotional and somatic responses to music, and their translation into visual artistry through the manipulation of color and pattern whilst exploring the intermixing of acrylic mediums and adopting a variation of mixed media techniques.
While certain pieces emanate from direct painterly applications utilizing acrylic paints and associated layering techniques, others emanate from the amalgamation of layered, collaged monoprints arranged into intricate “visual compositions,” akin to the intricacies of a musical score.
This artistic odyssey afforded invaluable moments of introspection, fostering the evolution of a visual lexicon that bridges the divide between the tangible and sensory domains, all within the immersive embrace of sound and visual manifestation.
