Explore the fundamental techniques used for working with encaustic media and oil in this four week workshop which will demonstrate techniques for encaustic painting including preparing supports, working process for layering, collaging and embedding to final finishing. Create your own encaustic painting following step-by-step demonstrations at each session.
Starts: Thursday April 2nd 2015 for 4 weeks
(All dates will include 7, 14, 21, & 28 May)
Location: Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham
This block provides an introduction to basic techniques used for encaustic painting using wax, RF encaustic mediums, oil and other dry media to create layers, patterns and textures.
An outline schedule for these 4 weeks is as follows:
WK#1: Introduction to Encaustic mediums & oil, preparing supports, planning and an initial outline of the working processes
WK#2 – #4: Demonstrations of different techniques & development of work
We will be looking at creating works measuring 30 x 30 cm. It should be something quite abstract or semi-abstract. When looking for references or ephemera to bring along to the workshops to use in your work think of layers, patterns, textures, design & colour.
Fee is £12.50 per week pay as you go or £50 to book the full 4 weeks.
