This half-day introduction workshop to art journalling was based on the theme of work by artist Gustav Klimt with students from Cloughwood Academy. The session was part of the school’s Artsmark programme.
This all-boy group were introduced to some basic artistic & crafting techniques, including mixed media, to create art journal pages to add to their sketchbook and journals.
The purpose of the workshop was to incorporate and create a page in the style of Gustav Klimt by incorporating imagery, textures, and embellishments that reflected the work of the artist.
Hence techniques taught included creating texture & backgrounds, collage, image transfer, and gilding (with gold & copper leaf) which covered a basic skill set of artistic techniques most likely used by the artist himself.
It was lovely to see that the group thoroughly enjoyed this workshop and found a new love for art by the end of the session.
